When we arrived in St. Augustine, we were immediately drawn to the charming architecture and elegant decor of Casa Monica Resort & Spa. From the moment we stepped inside, it was clear that this would be an unforgettable trip. The historic hotel is located in the heart of St. Augustine and offers a luxurious experience for guests. The rooms are well-appointed and feature modern amenities, while the grounds provide stunning views of the city. We enjoyed exploring the city’s attractions, from Castillo de San Marcos to Flagler College, all while taking in the stunning architecture of Casa Monica Resort & Spa that made our stay so memorable.

St. Augustine has a thriving shopping scene, with many unique and locally owned boutiques and galleries. Whether you’re looking for vintage clothes, unique souvenirs, or handmade jewelry, the city’s many shops have something to offer. After settling into our hotel, we set off exploring the city and found some amazing finds on St. George Street! From antique stores to art galleries to handmade jewelry and more, we experienced the vibrant shopping scene that this historic St. Augustine has to offer.
Where we eat
Whether you’re looking for a casual bite or a more formal dining experience, you’ll be sure to find something that suits your taste buds in St. Augustine! At a walkable distance, we had plenty of options when it came to dining options. We visited multiple restaurants such as The Floridian where we enjoyed delicious fresh seafood with creative cocktails, and Collage Restaurant which offers exquisite Mediterranean-inspired cuisine and offers beautiful ocean views from their fine dining establishment.
What to see
It was fun to explore all of the historical landmarks in St. Augustine. Castillo de San Marcos, an 18th-century Spanish fort with stunning ocean views from Castillo de San Marcos is our favorite stop; also visiting Lightner Museum – once an abandoned hotel that now holds an extensive collection of antiques and art – was always exciting!
We also tour the Old Town. St Augustine’s Old Town district offers history and charm galore, boasting cobblestone streets, unique stores and restaurants, centuries-old structures, and centuries of culture to explore. Take a stroll through its cobbled lanes to soak in all that makes St Augustine such an extraordinary city!
The Old Town Trolley tour is a great way to explore St. Augustine in a very short time. You will visit over 100 places of interest, including the Old Jail and Flagler College. We had a very friendly, knowledgeable conductor who shared an interesting narrative about St Augustine’s rich history.
You can discover a different perspective of St. Augustine by taking a sightseeing boat tour. The tour will take you to the Bridge of Lions National Monument and the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche. You can also spot dolphins and learn about the history of the sites from the narration of your captain.

St. Augustine is truly unique, given its combination of history and modernity. This charming city with charming architecture and culture delighted John immensely as did its friendly population – making St. Augustine an exceptional travel destination there’s no shortage of things to see and do.
